Mini Cabinets...

It's been a busy week so far. The fabric/craft department at our Walmart is expanding and all of the merchandise is also being moved from one location to another. Not an easy task.
In addition I've been preparing for a quilt show at the end of this month. Making some of my mini cabinets with all the miniature goodies inside. This one above is a sample of the variety that I've been making.
They are cute to collect, or give as a gift to the quilter in your family who has everything she/he needs.
They will be posted for sale after the show.

I hope you all are having a great week so far.

OPEN AND CLOSED - the latest in the line of note pad organizers

Here are the latest in the line of notepad organizers. An opened view with the key fob that matches, and a closed view.  I'm making more and a couple more of the larger size also.
They are great for jotting down notes, keeping business cards, credit cards.

OR use one for your shopping list, coupons and discount cards.

The key fob may also be used as a bookmark!

Your pen can be stored in the 'hiding' place with the key fob, or in one of the pockets on the left side.

So many uses!

Soon to be in the Quilter's Pantry shop.

Another use for t-shirts!

As if I have spare time some days.
But this was so fast and easy to make!

I have joined the many who are on Pinterest. I love the site. So many craft and inspiring posts, pictures and links there. This idea was one of them.

Take a t-shirt. Lay it flat on a table or on your cutting mat. Cut it across just under the arm holes. Then cut strips like you would if you are making a fleece tie blanket. The longer the strips the longer your fringe will be. You can either leave the edge of the t-shirt as is or, as I did, I cut that off also.

Then hold the top of the piece and gently pull each strip to elongate it and make it turn a bit.
The original post has it worn just as a scarf over your head and hanging down so the fringe reaches your waist.
I did that, then decided I was cold. I often like to wear turtle necks to keep warm in cool/cold weather. So I took my new 'scarf' and just wrapped it around my neck. I secured it with a safety pin in the back. But if I were going to only wear it this way (as pictured) I would stitch a piece of velcro on each end and use that to secure it in place.
Now I want more t-shirts to cut up!

The original idea came from: http://www.lakelandlocal.com/2011/08/diy-fringe-scarf/

Have fun today!

Along with all the bibs I've made in the last couple of weeks (or less), I've been making these legal pad cover/organizers. They make great organizers to hold legal pads, business cards, a small calculator, other notes of brochures.
They also make great organizers to take along grocery shopping to hold your list, and coupons and notes.
Great to carry with you to the quilt store to hold your notes, patterns, fabric samples.

Large legal pad organizer

Use one for jotting down lists and notes of things to do, one for taking notes at your business meetings, one to use as a journal.

They also make great gifts for any occasion.

I'll be making more both large like these and smaller ones, like pictured below, to hold the small legal pads. Small ones are great to just toss in your purse and carry along with you.

Small legal pad organizer

I'll have these listed on my web shop soon.

Have a great day - stay organized.

Just another quick bib before work...

Just one more bib to add to the selection. Not listed anywhere for sale yet. But will be over the weekend.
So glad it's Friday. Went to a quilting guild meeting last night. So many beautiful quilts the ladies (and man) have made. So inspiring. Makes one wish there was more time in the day to just sew and quilt!
But instead I'm off to work to play with fabric ( I do have a great job ;)
I'll be quilting/sewing over the weekend so stay connected to see the latest. More bibs, more legal pad organizers, and maybe the start of a quilt or two. I'll see how much time I have.

In the mean time - have a great day everyone!

CREATIVITY CONTINUES AND EXPANDS to baby bibs

The life of a creative person never seems to sleep. If we are not making something our mind is busy thinking of new things to make. We see something similar and make changes to make it our own.
We grab a paper and pencil and draw or write.
We open our computers and use our design programs to develop new ideas.
As we continue to create and practice what we know our abilities expand, our ideas keep adding to the things we want to make.

These are the latest items I'm making.

They are also on the Quilter's Pantry Shop web site.
These are reversible and washable.

Many more will be added.

I'm also working on another line of products to make.  My mind never stops working, and creating.

Bird house pin cushion with space for broken needles and pins

These are some of my crafts I've made in the quilting world.  I am going to start making more of the photo cube pin cushions and more of the mini storage units with micro mini quilts. The mini storage units are 6" tall.
If you are interested in purchasing one let me know.

The bird house one will not be available.  The tiny bird house with bird perched on it were made by my father well over 30 years ago.

Fabrics and colors used will vary on each one.

Quilter's Pantry - other projects/crafts

Photo box pin cushion

This is designed to be a photo box with four sides that hold photos. I transformed it (and others) into a pin cushion!  The lid comes off which makes it handy to also hold broken pins and needles or your supply of needles or your secret stash of chocolate!

Today I remember my Mom.  It would have been her 87th birthday.  She's been gone since 1990 and I miss her all the time. She never knew I got into quilting, never how thankful I am for her teaching me to sew. She was a seamstress and made all my clothes when I was growing up.  After many years all I wanted was store bought clothes and at one point I remember telling her not to make me anything else.... until I asked her to make my wedding gown!

Love and miss you Mom!

Hope you all have a great day!  Remember to cherish the special moments throughout your day.  The moment that just passed---- can never be lived again. The next one --- isn't here yet.  Live in the present - It's God's gift to you.

Happy Quilting !! ♥
