Just another quick bib before work...

 

Just one more bib to add to the selection. Not listed anywhere for sale yet. But will be over the weekend. 

So glad it's Friday. Went to a quilting guild meeting last night. So many beautiful quilts the ladies (and man) have made. So inspiring. Makes one wish there was more time in the day to just sew and quilt!  

But instead I'm off to work to play with fabric ( I do have a great job ;)  

I'll be quilting/sewing over the weekend so stay connected to see the latest. More bibs, more legal pad organizers, and maybe the start of a quilt or two. I'll see how much time I have.

CREATIVITY CONTINUES AND EXPANDS to baby bibs

The life of a creative person never seems to sleep. If we are not making something our mind is busy thinking of new things to make. We see something similar and make changes to make it our own. 

We grab a paper and pencil and draw or write. 

We open our computers and use our design programs to develop new ideas. 

As we continue to create and practice what we know our abilities expand, our ideas keep adding to the things we want to make. 

These are the latest items I'm making. 

They are also on the Quilter's Pantry Shop web site.  

These are reversible and washable. 

Many more will be added.

I'm also working on another line of products to make.  My mind never stops working, and creating.

Being a Quilter

I made this for Valentine's Day early last year. Just a small table cover, the longarm work is using two of the hundreds of computer patterns I have.  A fun quick project to do. 

I now have my St' Patrick's Day table runner on display which was also an easy project.  Picture will be come later.

Being a quilter doesn't mean you have to start with making a quilt to cover a bed.  Or that you ever have to make one that large. 

Being a quilter means you like to take perfectly good fabric, cut it up into pieces, sew it back together with other pieces you have cut, layer it with batting, and more fabric on the back and stitch or tie it to keep it connected. 

O.k. so maybe there is a bit more to being a quilter, and some will debate what a 'quilter' really is.

But whether you are one who just likes to piece them and never finish them yourself (but send them off to be longarmed such as those who send them to me). Or if you are one who does it all by hand vs all by machine it's all part of being a quilter. And I admire you all.  

Many people make wall hangings, table runners, bed runners, doll quilts, mini quilts.  There are many things you can make and quilt. 

So if making that large bed quilt leaves you with sweaty palms, and scared to even try quilting, think small. 

As you can see in my page here of "My Quilts" I started out small. I took a queen size quilt pattern and just made a 9 patch section of it, which made it perfect for a wall hanging. It also made it just enough for me to be hooked big time in the world of quilting. I've not been able to stop quilting since.

Some who read my blog are not quilters at all and I thank you for being part of my blog.  If you have a quilt you would like to have made let me know. Don't forget those I already have for sale.  If you want to learn how to quilt - let me know. If you live close we can get together for a class.  I can also help with tips, ideas, and encouragement. There is always more to learn in the world of quilting.

WHAT DOES FABRIC SAY TO YOU?

It was a busy week.

A combination of:

Longarm work, pictured above, for a customer; who brought it to me one evening and I called her at 2 PM the next day to tell her it was done;

and work at my regular job where customers and product kept me busy.

It was a good week with a fun ending.

"I HEAR FABRICS CALLING" 

At my regular job we had new fabrics come in. It was like Christmas, Birthday and winning the lottery all at the same time. 

New, beautiful prints, good quality! As I pulled each one out of the box I immediately starting making quilts in my mind. Which ones were meant to go together? Which other ones would go with each one? What quilt pattern would I use for them? And which fabrics that we already have on the shelves would go with the new fabrics to make those beautiful quilts? 

There are so many ways to look at fabric. Each person sees fabric in a different way. I'm inspired when a customer brings up a few bolts of fabric, to be cut,of different patterns and color combinations to make one quilt and they are a combination I hadn't even considered, but they work!

Some people look at fabrics for quilts, others for adult or children's clothing, still others look for craft projects, school projects, and so many other things. 

As a quilter or seamstress, otherwise known as fabriholics, fabrics talk to us. I watch people walk by the fabrics and can tell some fabrics are 'talking' to them. Some come shopping and are 'just looking', waiting for the fabric to 'talk' to them. I totally understand. 

Today - I had several fabrics 'talking' to me. But I stood strong and will wait..... we have more coming in - lol. I'll wait and let the whole collection battle it out amongst themselves to see which ones make it home with me.  I have projects in mind and there are always quilts to make. And customers who want me to make a quilt for them.  I'm sure I'll hear lots of fabric talking to me.  

In between all of the above I started making new things to have for sale at a couple of shows I'm participating in this spring. 

Now to enjoy the weekend:

My regular job requires my time Saturday, but I'll be busy there with resets and customers.

Sunday is early service of church and then spending the late morning and most of the afternoon with my daughter and her mother-in-law --- Girl time!

Good Morning to all

Good Morning everyone. Just wanted to share the silver lining shining through the clouds. Though the pic was taken a while ago it is a reflection of our lives. No matter what is going on there is always a silver lining. It may be small and hard to see at times, but keep looking, it is there. The light at the end of the tunnel may be dim, but it is there around the corner.

Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home!  We were out of town for a few days visiting kids and grandchildren. It was wonderful to see them, but oh, so nice to be back home.  I wish they lived closer to us here in TN. Would love to see them more often to watch them grow. 

Now we are back home and back to work. Quilts needing to be made, waiting on other quilt tops to head our way, and preparing for a couple of shows to work as vendors.  

Don't forget Quilter's Pantry has a few quilts for sale and another one coming up for sale in a few days.

Lil' Farmer Baby Quilt

"Lil' Farmer" Baby Quilt

Lil' Farmer baby quilt is the latest quilt I've made.  Made this one complete with 3-D bandannas near the top border.  Makes for a perfect baby quilt sized at 44" x 45". Perfect to lay on the floor, carry along in the car, toss around and just enjoy. Quilt has been made to be used and have fun. 

I can also alter it to be a wall hanging if you would like.
