QUILTING CLASS - 'YOU CAN DO THIS'

CLASSES START FEBRUARY 9th, 2013!

Check out the "Classes..." page in the tab above for details of what the class will involve.

First class is being held Sat. February 9, 2013 from 9-12.

Hurry and contact me to preregister.
I have only two more openings for the Feb 9 class.
I have three people interested but not committed..... If you are interested in attending hurry to register!  Class size is very limited, but this assures more personal attention
Once class is full I won't be able to take any more for these dates and times.

You need to contact me for your list of requirements and what to bring to class!  Fabric is available to purchase at class but the selection is limited. I will give you the amount of fabric needed for the project so you can purchase your fabric anywhere you wish or bring what you already have and want to use.

Students will be piecing at least four blocks while at class!

Great way to start learning. Easy to understand instruction!  And I accept all questions during class time, as there are no dumb questions.

Main thing to know is there are no quilt police in quilting.  While there are easier ways to do things, one way may work better for you another way may work better for another person. Along with teaching the basics I will be showing some tricks, tips, and several hints to make quilting easy and FUN!

You must be pre-registered to attend.  Price for the first class is $40.00.  Contact me for more details, and class requirements.

I'm looking to this opportunity to teach you my passion for quilting!   Come join us!

And in my spare time......

Kindle Case # 7

Kindle Case # 8

Kindle Case # 4
O.k. So it's not really in my spare time. In my "Real" Spare time I.... sleep?

Pictured above are just a few of the Kindle Cases I've made in between quilting, organizing quilting classes and working. Some (not pictured) have already been sold, or were special ordered.
These are available to buy through Quilter's Pantry web shop.

So you see, there are many things you can make with fabric other than quilts.  And some of the smaller things you can make from the scraps of fabric, also known sometimes as our 'stash'.

By taking time away from quilting to make smaller things you get a break from the large lurking project. You also get to use some of your smaller stash pieces. You get to enjoy being creative and making something new.

It is during these times when we take breaks that we make the purses, tote bags, cases, ornaments, coasters, etc.  The list of smaller things to make goes on and on. You just never know what you may find to make.

Taking a day or a period of time away from quilting just to go through all the fabric we have, to reorganize it, to see what pieces we really have can be relaxing as well.

Go have some fun today.  Dig into your stash and see what you can create.

Now ------

What did you find in your stash that you forgot you had?

Go make it a great day!

Til next time -
Keep those needles stitching, the creative juices flowing and the fabric moving.

"YOU CAN DO THIS"

Quilter's Pantry is now offering classes for beginners!

FIRST CLASS:
"YOU CAN DO THIS"

DATE: FEBRURAY 9, 2013

TIME: 9 AM - NOON

LOCATION: QUILTER'S PANTRY
(Call or email me for address and directions)

COST: $30.00

LIMITED SPACE: CLASS LIMITED TO 3 STUDENTS

 ABOUT THIS CLASS

This class is designed for the person who wants to learn how to quilt, but has no idea where to start. Geared to those who already own a sewing machine. (but if you don't have one yet, you are still welcome as smaller ones may be available)

We will be going through the tools needed and how to use them; the glossary of quilting terms; abbreviations used most often; and easy techniques used in simple blocks.
Other tips, hints, and the fun of quilting will also be discussed.  Questions during class are encouraged and please know that I believe that there are no 'dumb' questions!

You will be doing a small block (or a few blocks) during the first class so you get  hands on experience and will be able to take your project home to finish, or bring back in a future class for the next step. (We will set a date and time for this class to meet again for their next class).

Students will also be given a binder with lots of information including:
1)  Charts to help in quilting;
2)  Section of "Understanding the Quilting process
2)  A glossary of terms to refer to
3)  Ideas for fabric and tool storage;
4) A listing of several web sites related to quilting
5) Sections about quilting techniques we use in class as well as many more to use in the future
and more!
PLUS a pattern for a small table cover or wall hanging. (the one we will be starting in class).

I prefer that you bring your own sewing machine, as well as some of your own tools. This will help you get to know your machine and be able to continue sewing at home after this class.

AGAIN --- SPACE IS LIMITED SO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED PLEASE SEND ME AN EMAIL FOR FURTHER INFORMATION INCLUDING A LIST OF WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS, AND WHAT NOT TO BRING TO CLASS.
